MFA Inc. General Secretary Successfully Completes FIFA Safeguarding in Sport Diploma
Ms. Tandica Hughes – the General Secretary of the Montserrat Football Association Inc. attended the first-ever FIFA Safeguarding Summit, which took place at the Home of FIFA, in Switzerland, from 25th -26th October 2023. This momentous occasion included a graduation ceremony which recognised Ms. Hughes for her outstanding commitment to the two-year FIFA Safeguarding in Sport Diploma program. Ms. Hughes was part of a cohort of more than 100 FIFA Learners, from 70 Member Associations, who graduated from the FIFA Safeguarding in Sport Diploma.
The summit also provided the attendees with the opportunity to learn about best practice in Safeguarding from a panel of Safeguarding officers within a wide spectrum of FIFA member associations, confederations, global experts and representatives of various stakeholders in the world of safe sport – including the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Council of Europe, and Centre for Sport and Human Rights (CSHR), FIFPRO and the Army of Survivors.
Ms. Hughes’ newly acquired qualifications and expertise are poised to have a profound impact on the Montserrat Football Association Inc., particularly within the Grassroots Programme, furthering the association’s mission to create a safe and nurturing environment for football enthusiasts, regardless of age or gender. With Tandica Hughes at the helm, the Montserrat Football Association Inc. is better equipped to protect the well-being of its members and strengthen its commitment to creating a safe and enjoyable football experience for all.
