In a significant move to further the goals of the FIFA Forward Programme, the Montserrat Football Association Inc. recently convened with FIFA’s Caribbean member associations. This meeting, held from the 2nd to the 4th of October 2023, featured a series of workshops aimed at optimizing the utilization of funds allocated for the FIFA Forward 3.0 cycle.

The delegation from the Montserrat Football Association Inc. was represented by some of its top officials, including President Vincent Cassell, General Secretary Tandica Hughes, and Financial Director Thandie Williams.

The overarching objective of the FIFA Forward Programme is to revolutionize how FIFA nurtures and supports football on a global scale. This is achieved through strategic investment and guidance, with the ultimate vision of unlocking the full potential of football in every nation.

Jair Bertoni, FIFA Regional Director for the Americas, underscored the significance of these workshops, stating, “These meetings represent a pivotal milestone on our calendar. The workshops with our Caribbean Member Associations have been highly productive and tailored to the needs of our partners as we endeavor to bolster their capabilities, from presidents to general secretaries and staff overseeing the FIFA Forward initiative.” Bertoni further explained, “Our goal is to furnish them with the essential knowledge and tools necessary to expertly manage the program. The input of several FIFA experts has strengthened our engagement with the Member Associations, both on and off the field.”

General Secretary Tandica Hughes described the workshop as an invaluable opportunity to collaborate with fellow Caribbean football associations in addressing challenges unique to the region. She emphasized, “This includes our efforts towards the development of women’s football and promoting the active participation of women and girls in football at the local level.”

The Montserrat Football Association Inc. expressed their gratitude to FIFA for hosting this event, acknowledging the inspiration drawn from the seminar. This inspiration is expected to drive their continued diligence in fostering the growth of football within Montserrat.
